- Behavior team visual supports: making token boards, file folder games, task strips, visuals that are used with teaching appropriate behaviors
- Arts/crafts assistance: helping classrooms with projects during their art class and classroom crafts.
- Swimming Classes: Be an extra pair of hands and have fun with the students in the swimming pool.
- Recess activities: Play with the kids during their recesses.
- Bus Assistants: helping students off the bus in the morning and walking them to their classrooms; and/or the reverse in the afternoon
- Reading to students in the classrooms
- Literacy Center: organizing books into baskets, straightening bookshelves, basic library supports.
- Gym Classes: helping students participate in gym-related activities.
- Classroom material preparation: cutting, copying and laminating items for classroom use.
- Cooking assistance: working with students as they learn cooking skills.
- Lunchroom assistant: provide student assistance in the lunchroom. Reading to students who have finished their meal early.
- Materials folder maintenance: Periodic checking of Velcro folders/binders for missing pieces and replace those that are missing.
- Altered book assembly: Dismantle a book and the rebuild it into a laminated interactive book for teaching students....call for additional opportunities!

We are very busy at Elim Christian Services. We could use some extra hands! You don’t have to have any special talent or experience to volunteer with us. All you need to do is offer your time and let us know what you are interested in doing.

Children Services Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Service Volunteer Opportunities
- Front Desk Receptionist: Answering phones, greeting adults, organizing mail, faxing attendance sheets, making copies.
- Lunchroom assistant: assist adults with their lunches
- Befriend an adult: Spend time with an adult on a regular basis playing games, reading, crafting, developing an on-going friendship with that person.
- Teach crafts/hobbies: Share your favorite craft for hobby with a classroom.
- Teach in the Choices Room: teach adults computer skills, game skills, arts/crafts, read together, make puzzles together, etc.
- Read a book: Spend time reading to one adult or a classroom sharing the love of stories and books.
- Teach drama: Work on plays, acting skills, and drama.
- Sharing ethnical cultures and traditions: Share your personal ethnical traditions including native foods, clothing, holiday celebrations, etc that are unique to your ethnic background.
- Field Trip assistants: Join a classroom on a field trip providing extra hands for helping adults on and off transportation and participating in the field trip activity.
- Annual picnic assistants/party helpers: Assist the adults playing games/eating/crafting during the annual and holiday parties.....call for additional opportunities!
Support Services Volunteer Opportunities
- Transportation: Washing vehicles on a weekly basis
- Archivist: Assemble, organize and categorize all Elim historical documents into an archival area. Create historical displays.
- Transportation: Taking vehicles in for safety inspections and/or maintenance appointments.
- Campus chaperons: chaperon visitors to their assigned meeting rooms.
- Dutch Festival: spend a few hours working with the pancake breakfast, one of the booths, children’s games, or transportation.
- Campus maintenance: Assist with grounds keeping, flower planting, campus safety reviews.
- Equipment sanitizing: therapy and gym equipment needs to be sanitized on a regular basis. ....call for additional opportunities!
TOGETHER WE SERVE EVENTS
Sign up to volunteer for a Together We Serve event to work alongside Elim adults in outreach activities through the work they do in Elim Adult Services. During a Together We Serve event, your church group will experience firsthand how God calls each and every one of us to serve, regardless of our abilities or disabilities.
The Together We Serve events are held from 9-11:00 am on every 3rd Saturday (excluding December). The event takes place at Elim’s Palos Heights Adult Services building 13063 S. Monitor Ave., Palos Heights, IL 60463. Sign up today at Elim’s website or call Sharon Dault to sign up your group.
